Nnenna Freelon: Limitations of the Site

Nnenna Freelon, husband of renowned architect, the late Phil Freelon, and six-time Grammy®-nominated jazz singer, reflects on the inspiration behind the Gantt’s architectural features and the obvious limitations of the site where the Center was built. Phil Freelon designed the Gantt Center’s 50,000 sq. ft., 4-story facility that was constructed on a 48 ft. by 400 ft. sliver of land in Uptown Charlotte.
